The team of costumed heroes known as the Avengers has had many members over the years including Spider-Man, Starbrand, the Scarlet Witch, the Vision and Hellcat.
The original group (Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, Ant-Man and Hulk) formed to take down Loki, Asgardian god of Evil and Mischief. They took down the trickster and later found Captain America, who willingly joined their ranks.
